Program Overview
Explore the business of sports through marketing, analytics, technology, and management.
The Sports Management minor provides an applied business foundation for students interested in the evolving global sports industry. Through coursework in management and sports marketing, students explore a field increasingly shaped by analytics, digital media, sponsorship strategy, venue operations, and fan experience.
Students can further tailor the minor through coursework in areas such as marketing, quantitative methods, machine learning, digital marketing, marketing research, or data analytics—connecting the business of sports with Rensselaer’s strengths in technology, analytics, and management education.
Required Courses
Students complete the following three courses:
- MGMT 1100 – Management in the Digital Age — 4 credit hours
- MGMT 4225 – Introduction to Sport Management — 4 credit hours
- MGMT 4235 – Sports Marketing — 4 credit hours
Choose One Course
Students select one of the following:
- MGMT 2430 – Marketing Principles — 4 credit hours
- MGMT 4100 – Quantitative Methods for Business — 4 credit hours
- MGMT 4190 – Introduction to Machine Learning Applications — 4 credit hours
- MGMT 4450 – Internet Marketing — 4 credit hours
- MGMT 4470 – Marketing Research — 4 credit hours
- MGMT 4600 – Data Analytics — 3 credit hours
