Lally Scholars Signature Experiences

Lally Scholars Signature Experiences

Build experience where business meets technology.

Lally Scholars learn by doing: managing real investments, building with AI, researching with faculty, exploring emerging technology, and presenting their work to the Lally community.

What Scholars Do

Real projects. Real decisions. Real evidence of growth.

Signature experiences give Scholars a way to turn classroom learning into demonstrated ability. Each experience helps students build the portfolio, confidence, and professional judgment reflected in the Lally Scholars Achievement Record.

Finance in Practice

Manage real investments

Lally Scholars may participate in the James Student-Managed Investment Fund, where students research companies, pitch investment ideas, and help manage real capital. This experience gives students practical exposure to financial analysis, market research, portfolio thinking, and professional decision-making.

AI and Product Building

Build and launch with AI

Through the Lally AI Academy sprint, Scholars work in teams to take an idea from concept to working AI-powered solution. Students learn how artificial intelligence can be used responsibly in business, product development, communication, analytics, and decision-making.

Research and Discovery

Conduct faculty-mentored research

Scholars may work alongside Lally faculty on research projects connected to management, technology, analytics, finance, entrepreneurship, organizations, and emerging business issues. Faculty research can also become the foundation for a Scholar’s capstone.

Emerging Technology

Explore applied quantum coursework

Lally Scholars can gain priority access to applied quantum coursework connected to RPI’s distinctive technology environment. As the first university campus in the world to house an IBM Quantum System One, RPI offers students a rare opportunity to connect business education with emerging technology.

Capstone and Symposium

Present at the Lally Scholars Symposium

Every Scholar presents a capstone at the annual Lally Scholars Symposium. This signature event gives students the opportunity to share their work with faculty, alumni, employers, corporate partners, and future Scholars.

What Scholars Earn

Experience that becomes evidence

The Lally Scholars Program is built to create value from the first year through graduation and beyond. Students do not simply participate in activities; they build a documented record of what they completed, what they created, and how they developed.

Scholars graduate with a verified record of real work: leadership, research, investing, AI, service, professional development, and a capstone they can explain with confidence.
